Cost Savings Green Cleaning Tips

  |     |   Apartment Living Sherman Oaks

Keeping your apartment in Sherman Oaks clean and sanitary can feel like a daunting task and to add to it, a lot of the cleaning products on the market are expensive and are harsh for the environment.

Don’t despair, vinegar, salt, lemon juice, baking soda, and other ingredients you have in your kitchen can get the job done, are easy on your wallet, and the environment.

Glass and Mirrors – Mix 4 tablespoons lemon juice mixed with a half a gallon of water to create a glass cleaner.  Put the mixture in an inexpensive spray bottle and you have a multi-purpose cleaner that costs you only a few pennies.

Tiles, Vinyl, and Counter Tops – Dip a cloth in lemon juice and rub it onto the stain.  Wipe it in a circular motion and then rinse it clean with water.

Furniture – Rather than buy expensive and environmentally unfriendly furniture polish; mix 2 parts olive oil, with 1 part lemon juice and apply it with a soft cloth.

Brass and Copper – Use equal parts salt, vinegar and flour to make a paste.  Rub the paste onto the brass or copper item with a soft cloth.  Leave it for an hour and then wipe it off with a soft cloth.

Toilet Rings – Pour vinegar in your toilet and let it sit. Then sprinkle some baking on a toilet brush and gently scrub the toilet.
