This Sunday millions of people across the world will be tuning in to watch Hollywood’s biggest night; the Oscars. The 88th annual Academy Awards Ceremony will air on ABC at 5:30 P.M. with a glimpse of Oscar fashion on the red carpet starting at 4:00 P.M.
You can also watch the celebration live on http://oscar.go.com/live.
Ryan Seacrest will be hosting Live from the Red Carpet on E!, which is always a fun watch starting at 3:00 P.M..
Why not organize an Oscar party at your Sherman Oaks apartment.
Here are some ideas:
You can recreate the red carpet entry by purchasing a red runner for your entryway. Home Depot, Target, and Walmart all sell them at reasonable prices.
You cannot have a red carpet without the paparazzi and let’s face it, almost everyone likes having their pictures taken. Set up an area in your apartment for pictures and ask a guest (or roommate) to take pictures of your guests. Before the end of the night, upload the pictures to a PC and have an impromptu slide show.
The Oscars is all about gold. You can find Golden Globe decorations at Party City or purchase anything gold, such as candles, napkins, plates and gold roping.
Purchase a large vase and treat yourself and your guests to a dozen red roses for a luxurious look.
Put a gold tablecloth on your dining table and dress it up with gold candles.
Whatever you decide to make for food, make it easy. Your local Whole Foods or grocery store have many great options for quick meals or order take out from your local Chinese or other restaurant. Transfer the food to plates and create envelope napkins for an elegant look.
(Directions for envelope napkins: Purchase a high quality white napkin. Open the napkin and lay it flat; fold the top two corners to create a triangle. Fold the bottom edge of the napkin until it meets the base of the triangle and then fold the top triangle down and seal. Seal the envelope with a gold seal that can be purchased at Staples or Walmart.)
For dessert, you can purchase store bought cupcakes, sprinkle with stars or put sparklers in them, and light them right before you serve them.
Serve champagne with star fruit on the rim to mirror the star-studded celebration.
