Are you looking for a place to get away, but don’t have the time to travel to a remote island?  Well, you are in luck, because not far from your Sherman Oaks apartment you will find a quaint little oasis; Catalina Island.
 
Pack your bags, your swimsuit, and some sun tan lotion and get ready to head to Catalina and leave your worries behind.
You will start your trip by taking the Catalina Express with locations at San Pedro, Dana Point, or Long Beach.

As you enter the sapphire-hued harbor dotted with small fishing boats and large yachts of Avalon, you will know you are in a special place  The dock is just a short distance from the town which has a small beach, restaurants, bars, and shops. The primary mode of transportation is walking or renting the fun golf carts, that help you explore the breathtaking beauty of this rocky island.

There is so much to do on Catalina Island, if you haven’t planned to spend the night, you will more than likely be planning your next visit within an hour of arriving.  You can take a glass bottom boat tour, go scuba diving or snorkeling, rent a kayak, or head to Descano Beach to enjoy a day in the sun.   Adventurers will love the eco-zip line, and historians will love Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Gardens or the tour of the Casino where you can learn the history of this unique island.
